A Pastel Pittsburgh Wedding: Eco-Friendly Blooms at Gardens of Stonebridge

Planning a wedding that's both romantic and kind to the environment can feel like a challenge. But at Bramble & Blossom, we believe in creating beautiful wedding florals using sustainable practices. We were thrilled to work with Savannah & Andrew to create a dreamy, eco-friendly wedding with a soft pastel rainbow color palette that perfectly complemented their chosen venues, with a ceremony at Old Economy Village and reception at the Gardens of Stonebridge. From our very first conversation, where I learned that the groom and I both think Don Draper is the ultimate American anti-hero and the Beatles are still the coolest band and the bride and I think that boho is more about your mindset than anything you can buy in a store...I knew these two were a perfect fit for Bramble & Blossom!

Blooms in Harmony with Nature

For Savannah & Andrew's ceremony at Old Economy Village, we designed delicate bouquets featuring locally-sourced daisies, sweet peas, and scabiosa in soft pinks, lavenders, and peaches. These whimsical arrangements echoed the historic village's charm and blended seamlessly with the natural surroundings. And if you'd like a laugh today, imagine my surprise when I went into one of the old stables to hand off those bouquets and found a ten foot tall fake horse greeting me. I almost dropped the whole lot!

At the Gardens of Stonebridge, the reception venue came alive with lush centerpieces overflowing with locally-sourced oregano, veronica, and butterfly ranunculus. We incorporated pops of vibrant color with celosia and cosmos, all arranged in a stunning display of pastel perfection. To add a touch of vintage elegance, we upcycled beautiful glass bottles and vases, giving them a new lease on life as unique floral containers. One of the most exciting design elements was our floral installation along the edges of the tent and the central, vintage chandelier. It was so much fun hanging hundreds of individual blooms upside down to give this wedding a dose of the whimsy and playfulness that it needed.

Sustainability at the Heart

Here at Bramble & Blossom, we prioritize using seasonal and locally-sourced blooms whenever possible. For Savannah & Andrew's wedding, we partnered with fantastic Pittsburgh flower farms like Sol Patch, Belle Fleur, Lauren Seiple, and the Greater Pittsburgh Flower Collective. This not only minimized our carbon footprint but also ensured the freshest, most beautiful flowers for their special day. As ever, we couldn't do it without our farming friends!
