That was Abby & Carolyn’s wedding day at The National Aviary in Pittsburgh. With a color palette bursting with peach, buttercup, blush, blue, and orange, their wedding was the definition of fun, whimsical, and bold — just like this beautiful couple!

The Vision: Bold, Whimsical, and Full of Color

When Abby and Carolyn first came to us, they had a few color ideas in mind—rich oranges, soft pinks, and hints of blue—but they were open to letting us, the experts, bring their vision to life. We took their love for playful and whimsical designs and infused it into every floral element, from the bouquets to the curated bud vase vignettes that graced their reception tables.

Special Floral Details:

• Bouquets & Personal Flowers: The brides' bouquets were lush and textural, featuring poppies, peonies, ranunculus, phlox, and delphinium, with a mix of petite blooms and full-bodied statement flowers.

• Hair Blooms: Carolyn wanted fresh flowers in her hair, so we selected a delicate mix of seasonal blooms for her styling team to pin in place.

• 1000 Paper Cranes: Abby’s mom and sister hand-folded 1000 paper cranes, which we carefully hung from the ceiling at the Aviary, creating a breathtaking and symbolic installation.

The Ceremony: Love Blooms in the Rose Garden

With 160 guests in attendance, Abby & Carolyn exchanged vows in the Rose Garden outside the Garden Room at The National Aviary. It was the perfect intimate, open-air setting, surrounded by natural beauty.

Design Highlights:

• A circular floral arch filled with colorful blooms and lush greenery, framing their vows in a breathtaking scene. The day turned out to extremely windy, so we revised our design same-day to make it extra heavy and anchored. All our hard work paid off and they got to enjoy the design all evening long.

• Hand-tied posies for the wedding party, each one highlighting a different spring bloom. Both brides had their friends choose attire in varied, warm tones, so having each of them carry bright arrangements of a single type of bloom was a perfect way to tie it all together while giving each friend their own special look.

• Floral pocket squares for the groomspeople and corsages for the grandmothers, creating delicate, wearable florals.

  
  

  

  
  

The Reception: A Colorful Dream

Inside the Garden Room, guests were welcomed into a joyful, light-filled reception space filled with spring hues, soft candlelight, and an artful mix of florals.

Sustainable & Thoughtful Touches:

• Bud Vase Floral Vignettes: Each dining table featured a curated selection of clear glass bud vases and petite arrangements in low, open vessels, ensuring guests had space to celebrate while still enjoying floral beauty at every turn.

• Candlelight Everywhere: To enhance the warm, inviting atmosphere, we layered LED votive, taper, and pillar candles at various heights.

• A Floral-Filled Sweetheart Table: The ceremony arch was repurposed as a lush sweetheart table backdrop, creating a seamless floral experience from vows to reception.

A Love-Filled Celebration to Remember

Looking back, what made Abby & Carolyn’s wedding so special wasn’t just the breathtaking florals or the vibrant colors—it was the pure joy, laughter, and love that filled every moment. One of the most hilarious moments of the day? A wedding guest mistook a random, goofy-looking fake plant at the Airbnb for one of the bridesmaid bouquets! Abby and Carolyn thought it was so funny that they took photos with it in the Mexican War Streets, laughing at how wildly different it was from our carefully crafted bouquets. It was a perfect representation of their fun-loving personalities and how much joy filled their day.
